Tumblr Founder David Karp: No High-School, No Problem…

Yahoo, seeking relevancy in the social networking (or any) stratasphere, has recently aquired the Internet blogging site Tumblr for a cool billion. The founder and Ceo of Tumblr is a young man, just 26, by the name of David Karp.

Karp apparently dropped out of high-school at the age of 14 (with the blessing of his mother) to immerse himself in computer programming full time. Soon he used his mother’s connections in the entertainment industry to land an internship with animation producer Fred Seibert at Frederator Studios…

After Frederator, Karp began building websites and also opened his own consulting company called Davidville. Eventually, he would meet up with Marco Arment, a developer he met through a Craigslist ad, and leverage the money he had earned thus far, to found Tumblr with Marco and a small group of investers

Interesting Note: Karp mentioned that after doing “all the research”, he discovered it would be easier for him to get into college as a homeschooler; his rational –  homeschoolers are evaluated differently…
